The Funding Challenge
State funding covers only a fraction of what foster youth need.
Fosterful supports foster youth and caregivers through three main programs:
Caregiver Support Project (CSP), Heart & Home Services, and Caring Companions.
Of these, only CSP receives state funding. While this support helps cover some foundational aspects, it does not fully meet the comprehensive needs of the youth we serve.
We also receive some local funding that can be used to support CSP for children who live in Clark County. However, this funding is not guaranteed and is limited to that specific area. For youth living outside of Clark County, we have no additional funding sources beyond community support.
Heart & Home Services and Caring Companions receive no state funding. Any expenses related to these programs must be covered by our General Operating Fund, the same fund we rely on to fill in the gaps left by state funding for CSP.
To fully support the 400 youth we aim to serve in Southwest Washington, we must raise an additional $520,000—an average of $1,300 per child per year.
