A Night in Narnia: Bringing Light to Youth in Foster Care
Guests raise their paddles to bid at the Land of Narnia Gala
Our community came together on one special night to bring light and warmth to children navigating the foster care system. Taking inspiration from C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia, our fundraising gala on February 27th brought real magic to Vancouver at the AC Hotel — made possible in large part by our presenting sponsor, OnPoint Community Credit Union.
Through the generosity of our donors and the incredible dedication of our staff and volunteers, we are overjoyed to share that we surpassed our fundraising goal, raising $228,780 that will go directly to providing holistic, wrap-around support to the caregivers and youth we serve.
As guests arrived, they walked through an iconic old wardrobe lined with fur coats that — just like Lucy's first step into the unknown — became a portal into the frozen land of Narnia. From that moment on, guests harnessed their own lioness power: bidding on auction items, sharing in delicious cocktails sponsored by iQ Credit Union, and capturing memories at our photo booth. When they entered the ballroom, lampposts glowed on every table, and the heart of our mission filled the room.
One of the most moving moments of the evening came from our special guest speaker, who shared their own lived experience in foster care. Their words were a powerful reminder of exactly why we do this work — and of the profound difference that love, stability, and community can make in a young person's life. Guests were also moved by a beautiful appeal video created by Harter Creative and generously sponsored by Spruce, which brought our mission to life on screen.
The auction was a highlight of the night, with stunning trips and experiences donated by our wonderful community members. A special thank you to Alaska Airlines, whose donated flights also added extra excitement to our raffle.
When the evening came to a close, guests carried that warmth from the lammposts with them back through the wardrobe and into the world — a little more hopeful, a little more generous, and a little more willing to believe in magic.
