Sidekicks to the rescue!

Become a real-life hero—showing up with steady support, practical help, and care for kids in foster care. With consistency as a superpower, Sidekicks strengthen families one visit at a time!

Sidekicks are everyday heroes who show up for foster families with about 6–10 hours a month of hands-on help and support. Whether it’s hanging out after school, driving to activities, or just being a steady, trusted presence—your superpower is showing up.

With consistency and care, Sidekicks help prevent placement changes and give caregivers the backup they need. Because even heroes need a sidekick—and no one should do foster care alone.

Your superpower? Being there.

Who can be a Sidekick?

We're looking for compassionate, reliable adults who are ready to make a difference. Training included. Capes not required.

You might be a perfect fit if you:

  • Are 21 years old or older

  • Can pass a name-based background check and child welfare system check

    • If you've lived in Washington for less than 3 years, or currently live in Oregon, an FBI fingerprint background check is required.

  • Complete our Fosterful online orientation

  • Finish a series of online training videos

  • Become certified in CPR and First Aid (We provide the course!)

  • (If you plan to provide transportation) Have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance

    • Please note: DUI or reckless driving infractions are disqualifying.

Your hero moment starts here.

Our onboarding process is designed to prepare you for success, step by step:

  2. Orientation – Attend a Fosterful orientation session (offered virtually)
